Warehouses and factories once used in an industrial capacity that have sat stagnant for years are now supporting urban lifestyles. The urban experience for many offers downtown attractions and city access. These structured spaces carved out of old historic buildings now provide mixed uses for cities around the world.
Roof top and balcony gardens are abundant. These decidedly creative niches are calling for sculpture that interacts with these green spaces. Residential districts are comprised of authentic materials in a variety of textures such as concrete, steel, aluminum, and glass. This unique habitat supports the perfect showcase for contemporary art.
The above works of art are oil and mixed media on vellum mounted on canvas. My work consists of the same raw textures found in an urban setting. Dense layers of paint prevalent throughout my work interacting with a brick facade. My paintings convey antiquity and modernity creating tension in an urban context.
